Celebrating Kau Coffee on the Big Island of Hawaii

Celebrating all things Kau Coffee, the Kau Coffee Festival takes place every spring in Pahala. Lovers of Hawaii coffee and the esteemed Kona Coffee are excited about the high quality of Kau coffee and the emerging coffee growing industry in Kau.

The 2010 Kau Coffee Festival took place May 1-2, 2010 at the Pahala Community Center.

Among the events were researchers giving talks on agronomy including soil and tissue analysis as well as application of fertilizers to coffee plants. A certified Q-Grade cupper spoke about the basics of Coffee Cupping, and a cupping clinic was held. There was also a coffee farm tour offered

The 2009 Kau Coffee Festival took place April 24-26, 2009 at the Pahala Community Center. That event featured a coffee cupping and coffee tasting lecture followed by an actual coffee tasting.

There was also an ongoing coffee roasting demonstration, a wet processing demonstration, a coffee farm tour, and discussions about coffee marketing and coffee agricultural practices, honey bees and their potential impacts on coffee, and the results of different coffee processing experiments.
